Working model for Fenkart Chocolate World

Customer: Fenkart KG

“Fenkart Chocolate World” was the key to our cooperation with Fenkart KG. Visitors were to be given the opportunity to create their own chocolate in Fenkart’s “Chocolate World” and take it home with them.

Fenkart Schokoladengenuss is based in Vorarlberg, and has made a name for itself with its high-quality, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate creations, according to the ‘bean-to-bar’ philosophy: “Maitre Chocolatier” Gunther Fenkart and his team produce exquisite and unique specialities here – from the bean to the finished chocolate bar; and pralines. The company’s own confectionery shop offers an interactive experience for guests and is also attached to the chocolate factory.

In search of ideal plastic packaging

A plastic insert was required for the chocolate creations made by visitors to the Erlebniswelt.

Firstly, to this end the faceworld team defined the dimensions, shape and logo placement in close consultation with the customer.

Shapely development process

Subsequently, we created a design proposal and produced a technical drawing template. These were used to produce the first test samples.

During samples testing we identified a practical omission – there were no handles! These shapes would have been essential for easy handling.

This again confirmed the crucial importance of prototyping in the development process for packaging solutions.

The required adaption was incorporated into the technical drawing, and the mould for new samples was adjusted accordingly. This time the test was successful from edge to edge.

This formed the basis for the final production tool. Once serial production and delivery of the finished product had been achieved – our job was done.

Sweet tip: Why not try being a chocolatier yourself at the Fenkart chocolate factory in Hohenems?
